Aug newsletter:

Our July 22nd show was another one for the record books. The day dawned bright and clear signifying yet another Boulder Creek scorcher. But fate smiled on us and a gentle breeze kept the temperatures in the mid 80's. We were pleased to welcome Hall of Fame rider, Tammy Pigao on her horse, Tobo.
Tammy had just pulled her last needed time 36 hours before on Friday night at D8's setup show and came up to BC to relax and have fun. Some fun! Eight AAA+ times! Also joining us again was Jamie Tsuji and mom, Arlene. Jamie saved the day with her snow cone machine. I think everyone there had
at least three snow cones! Jamie ran three AAA+ times as well, culminating in a Supreme time in Speed Barrels. Haven't we always said that Eddy Ranch has some fast ground!

We had 21 riders at this show competing for our awesome High Point from Stone West. Chris Rice, (owner of Stone West), donated some beautiful hand-made jewelry. Let her know if you'd like to do some Christmas shopping with her! 335-4982. Taking home her beautiful necklaces for High Point
were: Emily Hogye (open pony), Nikki Gorman - reserve. Tammy Pigao (AAA+), Jamie Tsuji/Possum-reserve. Jamie Tsuji/Splash (AAA), Rachel Crill-reserve. Bonnie Sullivan (AA), Rebekah Crill - reserve. Robin Brandon (A), Chris Rice - reserve. Haylee Coker (FC 10under), Sara Castagnetto-reserve.
Kristin Praly (FC 11over)

Also riding in this gymkhana, was our own Raffle Queen, Kristin Praly on Maverick. She was quite the inspiration and we hope to see her joining us again soon. Our Run for Fun - Skill Barrels was a fun end to the day. Rachel came out on top followed closely by Bonnie and Caitlyn.

And then, STATE SHOW! Whew, we survived! Thanks to all the Redwood Riders who came to State to ride and to help in the arena. We worked the Big T event on Monday, July 30th and put almost 150 riders through our arena in three hours. D9 was well represented at State with four out of our seven D9
riders coming home with buckles! Congratulations to Sara Castagnetto and her horse Chief, who not only brought home a spectacular silver buckle for her 1st place in Figure 8 Stake, but qualified for the novice match races in Poles 1 - all at her first state show. Congrats to our other 1st Place
Buckle winners as well: Robin Brandon (1st State Show), Marietta Sullivan, and Rebekah Crill.

Our crew won Most Beautiful Stall Decoration for their efforts in putting together a wedding between Happy Jack and Charm with Amber, Taz and Ginger as attendants. Chief played the jilted lover after having been banished to the "problem horse" stall with Sebastien for the majority of the week. All
the horses were so cute in their bridal attire!

We met lots of people from other districts and made lasting friendships that we will renew next year. Plan now to attend State Show next year. It start the last weekend in July again and continues through that Friday night. I've already heard a rumor that Paulette and clan will be joining us!

Hope you all came out for our August Buckle Show - sponsored by Scotts Valley Feed. Whoever took home those buckles is in for lots of envious gazes! More info on who won in the next issue.
